The Xiaomi 12X is at the bottom of the lineup, while the Xiaomi 12 Pro is at the top. But what makes these three phones unique, and which one should you choose?
In terms of price, the Xiaomi 12X is $649, while the Xiaomi 12 is $749, which is equivalent to €899.99. The Xiaomi 12 Pro costs $999 / €1099.99 / €1099.99.
There are currently just US and European pricing for the Xiaomi 12 series, with UK prices coming in the future. As of March 22, pre-orders for the device began to flow into Europe.
Starting at $999 / €1099.99, the 12 Pro is the priciest model available. The 12X is the lowest of the three variants, beginning at $649 or €699.99, while the 12 costs $749 or €799.99.
- A 176-gram smartphone measuring 152.70mm by 69.90mm by 8.16mm.
- In terms of dimensions and weight, the Xiaomi 12 weighs in at 180g.
- Dimensions and weight of the Xiaomi 12 Pro are as follows: 163x74x8.16mm and 205g.
There are a lot of similarities between the Xiaomi 12 series. All three versions have an aluminum frame with nice gentle curves, and they all have the identical camera housing in the upper left corner.
The camera’s housing is rectangular and features a big lens at the top, as well as two smaller lenses and a flash, all of which are separated into their own sections.
Color possibilities include Gray, Purple, and Blue and are all covered by Corning Gorilla Glass Victus in the same manner.
Each of the screens has a punch hole camera at the top, and all three variants have an under-display fingerprint reader. As far as size is concerned, there are just two Xiaomi 12 series. When it comes to dimensions and weight, all three models are similar, with the 12 being somewhat bigger and weighing slightly more than the 12X.
- Xiaomi 12X: 6.28-inch, AMOLED, 2400 x 1080, 120 Hz AMOLED display.
- Xiaomi 12: 6.28-inch, AMOLED, 2400 x 1080, 120Hz AMOLED screen.
- Xiaomi 12 Pro: 6.73-inch, AMOLED LTPO, 3200 x 1440, Adaptive 120Hz display.
The 6.28-inch AMOLED DotDisplay on both the Xiaomi 12 and 12X has a Full HD+ resolution of 2400 x 1080 pixels, the same as on the Xiaomi 12 and 12X. For example, both devices have TrueColour technology and reduced blue light certification, and their maximum brightness is 1100nits for all of them at once.
A 6.73-inch screen with a higher resolution of 3400 × 1440 pixels distinguishes the Xiaomi 12 Pro from its smaller counterpart. Additionally, it has a maximum brightness of 1500 nits and is SGS Eye Care Display Certified rather than merely certified for blue light emissions.
A 120Hz refresh rate is available on both the 12 and 12X, however the 12 Pro has an LTPO display enabling an adaptive 120Hz refresh rate. However, Dolby Vision and HDR 10+ are both supported by all three models in the lineup.
Specifications and hardware details
- 67W fast charging, Snapdragon 870, 4500mAh battery, and Xiaomi 12X: these are the specs of the Xiaomi 12X.
- Xiaomi 12: Qualcomm Snapdragon 8 Gen 1, 4500mAh, 67W charging.
- Xiaomi 12 Pro: Snapdragon 8 Gen 1, 4600mAh battery, 120W charging.
Snapdragon 8 Gen 1 chipsets power the Xiaomi 12 and the Xiaomi 12 Pro. The Xiaomi 12X, on the other hand, goes with the Snapdragon 870, which is still a robust and competent chipset, but a step down from the Xiaomi 12 and 12 Pro.
In addition to 5G, all three versions have LPDDR5 RAM, UFS 3.1 storage, and Xiaomi’s LiquidCool cooling technology. With Android 12 and MIUI 13, they’re all the same
Because of its 4600mAh capacity, it has an advantage over its two smaller siblings, the Xiaomi 12 and the Xiaomi 12-X. However, Xiaomi’s 120W HyperCharge is only available on the 12 Pro, while the 12 and 12X only have 67W wired turbo charging as a backup option.
However, the 12X lacks the 50W and 10W reverse wireless charging capabilities of the 12 Pro and 12, although both are available on the 12 and 12, respectively.
- Xiaomi 12X: Triple-rear (50MP main, 13MP ultra wide, 5MP telemacro), 32MP front cameras.
- Xiaomi 12: Triple-rear (50MP main, 13MP ultra wide, 5MP telemacro), 32MP front-facing camera. Xiaomi 12 has a triple-rear camera setup.
- Xiaomi 12 Pro: Triple-rear camera (50MP main, 50MP ultra wide, and 50MP telephoto), 32MP front.
Cameras on the back of the Xiaomi 12 and 12X are identical. Triple-lens system: 50-megapixel primary camera with f/1.88 aperture, a 13-megapixel ultra wide angle lens with f/2.4 aperture, and 5-megapixel macro lens.
The Xiaomi 12 Pro, on the other hand, boasts a triple lens system with a 50-megapixel wide lens with f/1.9 aperture, a 50-megapixel ultra wide lens with f/2.2 aperture and a 50-megapixel telephoto lens with f/1.9 aperture.
The Xiaomi 12 Pro boasts the most modern camera system of the three models, not just in terms of megapixels, but also in terms of functionality, and it gives fantastic results in our experience, no matter what the weather is like.
The Xiaomi 12 and 12 Pro include a few extra features over the Xiaomi 12X, including 4K HDR 10+ recording, Ultra Night Video, Ultra Night Photo, and Portrait Night Mode, which are all available on the Xiaomi 12 and 12 Pro.
All three lenses on the 12 Pro have a Night mode and a 50 megapixel option. The wide-angle and ultra-wide-angle lenses on the 12 include a Night Mode setting, while the 12X also has a setting for night vision, but it is not limited to the lenses. Additionally, each of the models has an AI portrait option and Selfie Night Mode built into the 32-megapixel front-facing camera.
With the most powerful camera system, the largest and clearest display and the fastest charging capabilities, the Xiaomi 12 Pro is the most attractive of the three Xiaomi 12 series.
To be more precise, Xiaomi’s 12 has a lower battery capacity and supports rapid charging, but it falls short of what the 12 Pro offers in terms of charging speed. If you’re a fan of the 12 Pro but want something a little different, you’ll be pleased with this new version of the device.
The 12X is at the bottom of the range, with slightly older technology but still adequate, and it lacks a few features, such as wireless charging and some of the camera functions, although having the same camera as the 12.
The Xiaomi 12 Pro is a fantastic phone if your budget permits. Xiaomi 12 is our recommendation if your budget doesn’t quite go that far..
