techno.rentetan.com – Google has released a new security update for Pixel smartphones that resolves over 200 bugs and improves functionality. Google’s Pixel phones running Android 12 are currently receiving the December 2021 security update. The monthly security patches may not be as exciting as the Pixel Drop upgrades that introduce new features to your phone, but they are nevertheless necessary to apply as soon as can since they repair security holes hackers may exploit.

This month’s patch is extremely important, with over 100 bug fixes and stability improvements and 87 security changes for Android 12, including one that solves a weakness that may allow hackers to execute code remotely on your smartphone using altered media files harboring malware. Google’s Pixel smartphones are also protected against 49 more vulnerabilities in the patched version.

When and how to apply Android 12’s December 2021 security patch

Google has promised that all Pixel smartphones running Android 12 would soon get a fix, however this is not the case for all models.

As of yesterday, most Pixel phones have the update installed.

  • The Pixel 3a and 3a XL.
  • The Pixel 4 and 4 XL.
  • Google’s Pixel 4a and 4a 5G smartphones.
  • A new version of the Pixel 5 and Pixel 5a.

However, beginning next week, Pixel 6 and 6 Pro smartphones will get the patch, as well as the December 2021 upgrade and new Pixel Feature Drop exclusives.

If you’ve already installed the December 2021 Pixel Feature Drop update, you’re likely already running Android 12’s security patch.

This fix may be found in Settings > System > System Update. These changes may also be deployed manually by sideloading the OTA update file if you don’t want to wait for the internet update to arrive.

If you don’t want to use the factory image files provided by Google, you may still install the update. Make sure to back up your Pixel’s data before proceeding with this technique, and then follow our tutorial on installing a ROM image to your Android device.
