Spotify is still the most popular music streaming service for millions of people, despite the various choices available today. For all it’s popularity, the app hasn’t been the best in every area. Spotify has been lacking real-time lyrics for some time now, compared to Apple Music and Amazon Music, which provide similar capabilities. Fortunately, things have changed.

Today, Thursday, Nov. 18, Spotify is finally making its real-time lyrics function available to all customers, free and paid. Alternatively, you may have seen the news and opened your Spotify app to find nothing but silence. If so, there are a few things you may do to speed up the process.

Spotify’s real-time lyrics may be accessed by following these steps

Make sure your Spotify app is up to date before you begin. We don’t know whether this function is related to the current Spotify version, but we’ve seen it occur when we’ve updated the application. So, make sure you’re using the most recent version of Spotify on the device you use most often.

Are you still not here? That’s exactly what happened to me while I was using my iPhone. Real-time lyrics were still unavailable, even after an update from the App Store. My recommendation is to log into Spotify from a different device. It is possible to use this function on any Spotify-enabled smartphone, tablet, or computer. Once I downloaded and entered into Spotify on my Pixel 4, I saw the function. As soon as I returned to my iPhone, the same thing happened.

On mobile, laptop, and TV, how to utilize Spotify’s real-time lyrics

Using it on a mobile device is a breeze. For songs with real-time lyrics, you’ll see a “Lyrics” pane at the bottom of your display when you touch on them The Musixmatch-powered lyrics for this song may be seen by scrolling down or tapping on this window, which expands into a bigger lyrics window (current lyrics are highlighted in white). The lyrics may be scrolled through in full-screen mode if you press on this window again.

On the desktop, it’s a little more difficult to find. Real-time lyrics will show in the Queue icon when you choose a song that contains them. When you press the microphone, a huge lyrics window will pop up. In contrast to the smartphone version, it seems that the complete song’s lyrics aren’t immediately visible. Only the current lyrics and the following two lines or so will be shown to you.

The lyrics button is located in the top-right corner of the Now Playing screen on Spotify TV. If you’re already a Spotify user, you’ll soon be able to follow along with the lyrics on your PlayStation 4, PlayStation 5, Xbox One and Android TV devices as well as smartphones and tablets.
