techno.rentetan.com – Users of iPhones and Android devices who don’t meet the app’s minimum system requirements will be unable to access the app. WhatsApp has just discontinued support for another another set of outdated iOS and Android operating systems. To continue using WhatsApp after November 1, 2021, your smartphone will need to be running iOS 10 or Android 4.1 or later.

Those who have avoided system upgrades for some time may be able to upgrade their phone’s OS to gain access again, but some of the affected devices are between six and ten years old and are no longer supported by OS updates—so if you’re still using an ancient iPhone, this could be yet another sign that it’s time to move on to something new.

The following devices will no longer be able to use WhatsApp as of today:

  • iPhone 6S
  • iPhone 6S Plus
  • iPhone SE (2016 edition)

The action by WhatsApp is not entirely unexpected. Even the most cutting-edge technology eventually falls by the wayside, and WhatsApp looks to be no exception. iPhone 4, Samsung Galaxy S2, and Droid Razr were dropped from Apple’s list of compatible devices last year. In 2019, all Android and iPhone devices older than two years were dropped off the list as well.

When WhatsApp eventually upgrades its system requirements once more in 12 months, we anticipate there will be another another round of reduction. Keep your smartphone up-to-date with the latest system upgrades to ensure you don’t lose access to WhatsApp. Under Settings > About Phone, you can see what version of Android your phone is running and whether or not there are any updates available. In the Settings app, go to General, then Software Update.

If you don’t want to buy a new phone because your operating system is outdated and an update isn’t accessible, you should check into the best WhatsApp alternatives. While we can’t promise that alternative messaging applications will work with your ancient smartphone, if WhatsApp has disconnected you, it’s worth looking into.
