Qualcomm said Smartphones will be available for Snapdragon Insiders in August 2021, but did not give the details on when they were available.
It will be available in the United States, China, Germany, the United Kingdom, Japan and Korea, then in Korea.
Design and construction
- 173.15 x 77.25 x 9.55mm, 210g
- Midnight blue
- Illuminated Snapdragon fireball logo
- Gorilla Glass Victus
Only in one version, and it is a Midnight Blue with a lit Snap Dragon Fireball logo on the back of a phone, is the smartphone for Snapdragon Insiders available.
In a pretty big phone is a rear fingerprint scanner but it has a big display so that is to be expected.
The front camera is set into the top bezel, which allows for an obvious display. The top and bottom bezel of the display. This is a flat screen design, surmounted by Gorilla Glass Victus.
Qualcomm did not confirm the rear material, but we expect the metal frame and glass back as this device is built by Asus, too.
The phone’s big: it’s bigger than the S21 Ultra than the Find X3 Pro compared to other premium phones.
There are Stereo speakers with a top speaker and a bottom speaker. There are stereo speakers.
There will be a protective bumper in the box – together with other attachments that we will be discussing below.
- 6.78in Samsung AMOLED
- 2448 x 1080 pixels, 144Hz
- HDR10+ support
- 800 nit, 1200 nit peak
On the Smartphone for the Insiders of Snapdragon there is a display of 6,78 inch. It is approximately identical to the Samsung S21 Ultra Galaxy.
The display with the top and top bezels of the display indicates that it is ready for play because the bezels provide offscreen space to grip the telephone in the landscape – it also has a 144Hz cooling rate, something that people love.
It is a Samsung AMOLED Panel and is supported by HDR10+, with typical lights of 800 nits and a maximum of 1,200 nits. It should also give excellent visuals.
It has a resolution of 2448 x 1080 pixels, which is not the highest resolution on the phone but is again characteristic of gaming devices.
Power and hardware
- Qualcomm Snapdragon 888 5G
- 16GB RAM, 512GB storage
- Dual SIM
- 4000mAh battery, 65W charging
It’s all about power and it comes down to a Qualcomm Snapdragon 888 — note that it isn’t the newly announced Snapdragon 888+.
16 GB of RAM and 512 GB of storage are available, and these are the only versions of the telephone – no variants are available.
As such, 5G is supported globally and therefore all 5G bands are provided for the one phone.
This sounds a little light for a device of this size and positioning, but supports 65W charging which can be used with the changeover. The power of battery is 4000mAh. Two braided USB-C cables are also available for loading.
This is a pure Android device that comes with Android 11 and no more Qualcomm bloatware, Android stock.
- Triple camera system:
- Main: Sony IMX686, 64MP, 1/1.78in, 0.8μm, f/1.8, OIS
- Ultrawide: Sony IMX363, 12MP, 1/2.55in, 1.4μm, f/2.2
- Telephoto: 8MP, 3x optical, OIS
- Front: 24MP
There is a three-photo system on the back of the Qualcomm system. With Asus building this phone, the main camera and the ultrawide camera match the ones on the Zenfone 8. There’s no surprise. That’s not bad, because they’re pretty good cameras.
Exactly how they will do still has to be seen, we don’t know if it’s an Asus or a Qualcomm experience, but Qualcomm said it’s going to offer an AI Auto Zoom to help you focus on the important thing. 8K video capture is also available (thanks to that high resolution main sensor).
The inclusion of a correct telegraph lens allows for 3x optical photography and this means that there is a cluster of sensitive cameras at the back of this phone – but it still remains to be seen whether it can compete with strong offers from other flagships.
The front camera is a 24-megapixel camera, which is different from the Zenfone 8 so we really don’t know what it will look like.
How is it in the box? What?
- 65W charger (35W in India)
- Braided cables
Since this is a pretty special phone, it will come as an extra package (again, a bit like the way gaming phones are sold).
The box will, of course, contain the phone and the 65 W charger and the braided cables that we have mentioned to charge the telephone and the bundled headphones. India’s going to have a 35W loader.
The headphones aren’t just old headphones, they’re two custom headphones, worth 300 dollars, Master & Dynamic MW08. These are great wireless phones, and it is quite a big deal to get them into the box – and they cost you a bit.
The reason for this is that Qualcomm is willing to use this phone to display Snapdragon Sound. It’s one of the first phones that it offers and Qualcomm looks like it hopes to lay down new standards for audio devices. Here’s a great play for the 24-bit wireless audio of 96 kHz – it remains to be seen exactly how this works or how well that’s supported in a wider context.
There’s a bumper to protect your phone, in addition to these bits. It’s a fantastic package overall!
